![]() ![]() That's the exact same thing that a cheat program might do. Screen capture software like FRAPS, Taksi, or Livestream Procaster could even be bannable for all I know since they hook into executable files in order to get into the Direct3D and DirectInput pipeline to grab their screenshots and detect hotkeys. It may be running in the system tray when someone is not even using it with the game and they would end up banned. VAC banned some people for using AutoHotKey apparently which is a perfectly legitimate application that someone may use to automate many Windows tasks not even related to the game. I can think of reasons to modify game files that have nothing to do with cheating like using custom user interface skins, using custom music files, modifying game configuration files to run player created content and so forth and doing any of these things could result in a VAC ban. It does concern me that I could be banned from multiple games for doing something wrong in one of them. Using a third party program is a hack, because it provides a level of functionality not in the original game coding, and as such, it should be treated as a bannable offense.Īs far as which programs should you worry about having on your computer that could lead to a VAC banning, its simple: if you downloaded a program that lets you do something you otherwise couldnt in a video game that you have to have running in the background while playing a game through steam, THAT IS THE PROGRAM YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE ON YOUR COMPUTER which means, that is how the game should be made. Trendy may have a list of programs it approves for game modification, but i say, if it approves of those programs, then they should add whatever functionality said programs provide into the game code itself, because if they are ok with it, that means that is how they intend the game to be played. you dont want to get banned for cheating, then dont use programs that are considered hacks. No one gets banned out of the blue, and there are perfectly good reasons why valve does not release a list of bannable programs, because if they do, it just means everyone that made said programs will make new programs so that VAC cannot catch them. im not scared of VAC, and fully support it. Every day I load the game up I am afraid I am going to see Screw you dude you just got Whacked By VAC! Chime in and take the poll Thanks! Witch they completely refuse to reveal what they think you did or when they think you did it! We might as well have the Cardassian judicial system patrolling the game! Now don't get me wrong we need to nail cheaters but VAC is just plain ridiculous and Barbaric. ![]() If you do not know why you were banned sucks to be you! Just buy another copy of the game and create a new account! If you do not know Why you were banned Just to be safe you might as well reformat your computer just to make sure that you got rid of the offending program or programs. We will not tell you what or when we think you did something wrong. This system appears to be more trigger happy than ED209 from Robocop! Steam's official information essentially says if you get Whacked by VAC F off we will ignore all your attempts to contact us completely. This is until after hearing countless cries of WTF how huh! I read the details of Valve Anti Cheat or VAC for short. My brother and I play this game 100% legit so we really did not care what kind of anti cheat system the game uses. ![]()
